by | Love

May 15, 2022

Thanks to technology progression, you can find great streaming websites and apps for watching TV shows and movies. In this article, we have selected the best streaming websites for couples to watch films of all different genres.

Couples need to spend a lot of time with themselves in order to keep a very healthy relationship. They must find activities to bond over. For some couples, going out works, and for others, just reading books together do the trick. But a majority of couples will rather bond over TV series, documentaries, and movies.

If you are a couple who loves to bond over movies and TV, you should check out this list of apps where you can stream just about any movie or TV show you want. This list includes a comprehensive review of free apps and paid apps also:

1. Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime is one of the most credible movie and TV show streaming apps out there and offers a wide array of features. The films on amazon prime are limitless, and you and your partner can find just about any movie or TV series you are looking for.

Amazon Prime is not free. You have to create an account and pay for services. The payment is just about $14.99 dollars every month and can be canceled at any time you want.

It offers you a free 30-day trial just to convince you that you won’t be at a loss by paying.

The app has such an amazing interface; it offers both a dark mode and a light mood, and the movies are in 4k. You can sort your movies into categories.

The app suggests original movies and TV shows similar to the ones you have watched before and shows the rating of these movies. So you have the time to search through films that have higher ratings.

Amazon Prime does not only show popular movies and TV shows. You can also see award-winning Amazon Originals, exclusives, and live events.

2. Disney Plus

Disney Plus is just another streaming app you should have installed on your devices for streaming movies and TV shows with your spouse.

If you are a fan of Disney content, this is a place to find all the Disney content you want, and they are in HD. It is not as expensive as Amazon Prime. You start your payment with just about 8 dollars every month.

With one account, you can stream on more than one device. Just let your partner have your password when she is at work, watch the same movies, and bond over these movies later.

There is no live TV on Disney Plus. Some may consider this a downside.

Disney Plus is available on Android, Apple devices, smart TVs, PlayStation, and Windows.

3. Netflix

Netflix is no doubt one of the most popular streaming apps out there, and it is very popular amongst couples and lovers.

On the internet, there is a popular mantra that suggests that Netflix is just about right for couples; “Netflix and Chill.”

Netflix is available for Android and Apple devices and offers movies in 4k. As clear as clear can be.

Did I say movies? Oh, movies and TV shows. You and your spouse can watch your favorite shows on Netflix, too, and even listen to podcasts.

Netflix wants you to see the best of movies and provides a feature for this. It lets you see the rating of whichever movie you plan on seeing and allows you to read a synopsis.

The interface on the app is friendly. There is a night mode for people who don’t quite like brightness. You can sort your movies into categories.

To stream Netflix, all you need to do is create an account. Netflix offers a thirty-day free trial for new accounts. If you are satisfied, you can go on to pay per month.

You can download movies on the app to watch later on if you’re not close to a Wifi. Paid Netflix accounts allow streaming on more than one device, including Xboxes.

4. Hulu

Hulu is one of the best movie streaming apps out there and can be put in the league of Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.

It is a paid app, and starting accounts pay just about $6 per month.

Movies and TV shows are shown in 4k, as clear as Netflix. You can see just about any genre and can categorize your movies.

Like Netflix, you can read the synopsis of movies before going on to watch them.

5. YouTube

Almost everyone knows YouTube. The red and white have become so popular the number of users grows every day. YouTube is available as an app for many different kinds of devices. It is available for Android and Apple, windows, and Chromebooks.

There are both free and paid movies on YouTube.

YouTube’s unpaid services offer ads. This is a downside you and your partner have to deal with if you do not budget that much money for seeing movies. The ads do not run past 4 minutes; they seldom even run for that long.

You also can’t download some movies on the free version of YouTube. You just have to settle for streaming, even when data may be problematic.

However, if you and your partner do have the budget, you can opt to use the paid version of YouTube. With this, you can watch just about anything on YouTube. There are no ads, and you can save movies and create a playlist in case your partner gets busy and has to live.

Your spouse can always come back to see movies you both watched earlier. To get the most out of YouTube, you have to create a Google account—a Gmail account.

6. HBO Max

HBO Max is a streaming service available on both Apple and Android.

Here, you can see all movies and TV shows available on HBO, and that includes even the infamous Game of Thrones.

You only need to create an account and sign up for a paid plan. Paid plans on HBO begin at about $9.99 per month, and it is totally worth it.

The movies are shown in 4k, and you can watch one movie as many times as you watch. The interface makes it possible to fast-forward and rewind movies with ease.

HBO Max is not currently available worldwide. But it’s gradually moving to many countries. It is now available in 61 territories globally, including North America and some places in Europe.

7. The Roku Channel

What you will most probably notice first about this app is its sleekness. It is so user-friendly and is available for both Android and Apple devices.

It has a dark theme just in case you do not want all that white light jabbing at your eyes.

Then you will go on to notice that you can go right into watching movies because you don’t have to create an account before seeing movies on Roku. Yes! You don’t have to create an account.

The movies on Roku are mostly free, even though there are paid ones. But the app is smart enough to separate the free movies from the paid ones. You don’t have to spend time scrolling and scrolling.

It also lets you see which movies are similar to the ones you have previously watched.

Movies are not the only things you will find here. You will also find TV shows, and that includes even live TV shows.

The downside of this app, however, is that some people may find it hard to use at first. And also, the app does not offer you the chance to sort your preferred movies into categories.

8. FilmRise

This app can be installed and used on a number of devices, including iOS devices, Android devices, Xbox, and Roku.

Like with the Roku app, you don’t necessarily have to create an account to use FilmRise, meaning you won’t be uploading your email to any email listings or getting any spammy emails.

It is also free. The movies on FilmRise are free or demand quite a little cost. You don’t have to spend much to enjoy a movie with your lover.

FilmRise contains both movies and TV shows.

The app is sleek, and there is a night mode for people who do not like light. There is a downside, though. Like with Roku, you really can’t sort movies into categories.

9. Pluto TV

Pluto TV has mobile apps for both Android and Apple devices. It has a lovely interface and offers a dark mode for people who don’t want much light entering their eyes.

The channels on this app are not so much, but they do offer a number of amazing movies. The movies are usually trendy ones, and you can see them many times; there are also live movies and TV shows.

You and your partner can hide your favorite channels just in case someone picks up your devices somehow. The downside of this app is that you cannot watch a movie more than once, except if the film is trending or is in demand.

10. Yidio

If you are seeking movie streaming websites you and your spouse can stream movies together, Yidio is your catch. The app is available for Android, Apple, and Amazon Fire Stick.

This is a somewhat confusing app because Yidio itself does not host the movies on it. Yidio just acts as a search engine that points you to where movies are and fetches these movies for you.

It is free, and you don’t need an account to access it.
