Has it ever crossed your mind how guys choose their spouses? Do they believe in love at first sight, or is it just a gamble for them? We had similar questions, so the team and I conducted some small research on whether guys know when they have met the one on our readers.
In this article, we will be exploring the findings of this research. Do guys know when they have met the one?
Yes – 67 % of the Guys We Questioned
67% of the guys we questioned agreed to know when they have met the one for them. These were their reasons:
1. Guys Have a Dream Woman in Mind
Jake told us: “I have a dream woman in mind, and I can tell that most guys do, too. We will, of course, know her when we see her.”
This makes a lot of sense to us. You see, when it comes to relationships, we all have goals. When you close your eyes for a second and imagine what you would want from a relationship, what you would want your partner to look like, I am sure you will be able to create a mental picture.
When you come face to face with this mental picture in the real world, it is only likely that you would say: “This is the one.”
2. Guys Believe in Love at First Sight Too
Love at first sight, is usually associated with the feminine.
Esmeralda, a college student, told us: “I don’t think men believe in love at first sight. I think they are too logical for that. Stuff like love at first sight should be left to us, women.”
Well, the guys did not agree with her. They went on to assert that guys can be hopeless romantics as well.
We kind of agree with the guys (sorry, ladies). Guys sure can be hopeless romantics. They sure believe in love at first sight and are able to tell when they have met the one who is right for them.
3. Guys Have Strong Gut Feelings
A gut feeling, or an intuition, is a feeling that helps you know what is or what might be, even when there is usually no logical evidence.
Each one of us has these. Have you ever felt some type of way, only for you to find out later that it had to do with something you had no clue was on the way? That was your gut talking.
Guys have gut feelings as well. They are usually able to tell when they have met the woman who is right for them. This woman will sometimes not even be their ‘spec.’ She may be a girl very far away from what he considers the ideal spouse.
But he will know that she is the one, and no one will be able to convince him otherwise.
4. Guys are Drawn to the Unknown
You may have already known this, but a majority of guys show a lot of curiosity. I believe it is curiosity that makes men, men. Even as kids, it was usually the boys who ran around the house searching for stuff no one would ever want to search for.
It was the boys getting themselves into trouble every second.
Well, these boys grew into men and managed to keep their curiosity. This means they will be drawn to women whom they do not quite understand. And this might signal to them that: this woman is the one.
This is why I have, over the course of my work, advised women to remain enigmas.
A guy who has figured you out is unlikely to consider you the one. But one who is absolutely fascinated by you will call you the one.
5. Guys Don’t Even Know Why
A bulk of the guys could not word their thoughts. But they all sounded something like this: “I don’t know how, but I know the one when I see her.”
This is similar to the gut feeling we talked about earlier.
No, They Don’t – 33% of Guys
33% of the guys from our little survey agreed that guys did not know when they met the one. These were their reasons:
1. Guys are Not So Romantic
Koka, a man from Braamfontein, gave us a very funny answer. He said: “I don’t think men believe in all of that romantic thing. Love can be very difficult, and we men don’t like to play with it.”
Could this be true? In a way, yes. But we will betray the boys and assert that it is largely untrue. There are countless men out there who just want to open themselves up to love and affection.
But we get what the guys mean, and of course, it makes sense.
2. Guys Seek Some Stability Before Venturing into Love
Guys are not ones to leap into love blindly.
They understand that there is usually a burden on them in relationships, and this fear that they will be at a loss when or if things go wrong. And so, they do not allow themselves to slip into the belief that they can know the right one if they meet here.
Many guys will rather scrutinize a good number of women before even considering the possibility of them being with her.
3. Guys Don’t Buy into The Mainstream Media Portrayal of Love
Ukeme told us: “Well, I think the media is much different from the real world. I do not agree with how the media portrays love.”
This seems to me like, deep down, they do believe in knowing the one the first time you meet her but are finding ways to convince themselves that it isn’t true.
What Our Editors Think
For many reasons, we believe that most guys are able to know the one when they first meet her. We believe each one of us has very active gut feelings, and when we open ourselves to these feelings, they can guide us.
Yes, we picked sides! Guys can do it when they meet the one.
